Hurray A Finished Object!

But first, remember that bug I told you about?

Big ugly bug

Thankfully it has moved on because it makes my skin crawl.

Oh yes the FO. Here is my Paisley Lace Shawl from Interweave Knits Spring 2005.

paisley lace plus cat

This is becoming the traditional Cat on the blocking lace shot (she's obsessed with damp wool, I don't get it).

Finished Paisley Lace

And the "Don't I look beautiful down by the lake?" shot. It's a good thing it turned out because I only got two pictures before the batteries died and I was almost eaten alive by mosquitoes.

Specs:
Pattern: Paisley Lace Shawl by Evelyn A. Clark, Interweave Knits Spring 2005
Yarn: Fleece Artist Baby Curls, this was a 2000m hank and I used less than half. What to do with the rest?
Needles: 3.75mm circular and dpn in various lengths.
Notes: This turned out a little smaller than the pattern said it would, even though I blocked it to within an inch of it's life (man I need blocking wires) but hey it's a shawl how can it not fit? It will be great with my denim jacket in the fall.

I'm now eager to start my Icarus Shawl, but it will have to wait until I pick up a new 3.25mm circular tomorrow. I haven't got one long enough. Luckily Michael's is on the way home from work. Until then the first ball of yarn has been wound and is waiting patiently.

Stupid Camera!

The camera will not transfer pictures to my computer today, so we're going to have a pictureless post.

So, anyway, I went to water my plants Wednesday after work and as I'm watering the fennel one of the stems jumps off the plant. Obviously it wasn't a stem at all it was some sort of stick bug, praying mantis big ugly bug. I am baffled as to what this thing was doing on my 7th floor balcony but seeing as I am not one for creepy crawly flying things I decided to let it be and went back inside. I did however come back out briefly to take a picture which of course is now trapped inside the camera.

The other picture I had to show you was the fuzzy lump that is my almost finished Paisley Lace Shawl (IK Spring 2005). I'm halfway through the border then I'll need to find a good bind off. The pattern calls for a picot bind off which is a little more exaggerated than I would like so I'm looking around for something a little different. Any ideas?

Another question. I've got 100g (325m) of gorgeous Fleece Artist sock yarn and I'd like to knit the Petticoat socks from Weekend Knitting but it calls for three 100g (205m) skeins of Louet Sales Gems Merino Sport. Is it just me or does this sound like way to much yarn for a pair of women's socks? Has anyone knit this pattern, how much yarn did you use?

I think it is going to be a weekend of movies and knitting since I'm trying to finish up some old projects so I can start new ones guilt free. And I may have to go see Snakes on a Plane at the cheap theater up the street because, well it's called Snakes on a Plane! Anyway, have a great weekend, happy knitting.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Wow, I'm now a quarter century old. I still feel 20 though. I was going to show you all the things I've been working on but I'd rather be knitting so you'll have to wait a day or two. I did do a little birthday yarn shopping this weekend at the new Lettuce Knit store. But now I'm off to work on finishing my current project so I can get start my new one.
