Well hello there...

...long time no see.

I'm now here in Oakville, all settled in. I can't believe what a great location I'm in, I can walk or ride my bike to everything I need, including downtown and the lakefront (Lake Ontario if you're wondering). I'm even a ten minute walk from the local yarn shop. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing since money is a little tight these days. Good think I've got a bit of a stash here with me.

There is certainly no shortage of unfinished projects for me to work on around here, in addition to sewing curtains and cushions for the new place, I've been knitting up a storm and watching lots of movies since I can only get about 13 channels on my antenna and half of them are fuzzy half of the time.

Before I show you what I have been knitting I have to tell you that I am obsessed with the movie Rent at the moment. I don't have the sound track (for those of you who don't know it is a Rock Opera) so I just play the DVD over and over. It is a happy, sad, inspiring story and the music is amazing. I love that most of the original Broadway cast has come back to do the movie and I'm crossing my fingers that the stage production will return to Toronto.

Now for the knitting.

I'm so excited to be working on my first self designed sweater. This yarn was intended for a Blanket Cardigan from Sarah Dallas Knitting but like the hat I tried to knit from that book I ran out of yarn. Normally I would have gotten more I only needed another ball but the yarn is discontinued (Debbie Bliss Wool Cotton) and it seems that there is not another ball in this colour on the planet. Sooo..... here we go, it will hopefully look something like this.

The design is based on a jacket that Dr. Brennan was wearing on Bones a couple weeks ago. Here's where I'm at so far.

So far so good.

I have to confess, I did make a small yarn purchase about a week ago, even though I shouldn't have. You see my new LYS carried Fleece Artist which is my absolute favorite yarn and it just so happened that they had a few hanks of Baby Curls a laceweight kid/wool/nylon blend. It is such an amazing price, 250g for 24 Canadian Dollars, that is 2000 meters of yarn, I just couldn't pass it up. I'm making a Flower Basket Shawl with it using two strands together. I've just started the second chart.

But wait there's more. On my lunch break I've been knitting these,

a pair of jaywalkers almost finished. Everyone at the lunch table is so impressed, little do they know this is a really simple pattern. I can see why so many people have fallen in love with it. Now last but not least I am working on a mobile for a baby who just arrived on Wednesday. I'm not quite half way through with the knitting.

The hearts are from this pattern. I plan on making 4 and some other shape to hang from the middle. I guess I'd better get a move on.

Now I need a favor from you guys. I'm in desperate need of some spring summer clothes so I'm thinking of doing some thrift store scrounging and frankensteining some shirts together to make new funky ones. But, I need some inspiration. If anyone knows of any websites about this sort of thing, leave a comment, I really appreciate it. Until next time.....
