This is the Evergreen Shawl from Handknit Holidays. As soon as I got the book (Saturday) I had to start this project. Out came the lace weight I had been saving for a scarf (it's ok I ordered more for the Elizabeth pattern I ordered) and I made a swatch. The yarn the pattern calls for is fingering weight so I wanted to make sure it would work out. It did but I decreased the needle size by 1/4mm, so I cast on. I was overwhelmed from the beginning (this is my first shawl and my first experience using lace weight yarn), when the pattern told me to cast on 431 stitches I felt sick to my stomach but I did it and I survived. Now things are going along pretty smoothly although every time I make a slight mistake that queasy feeling comes back. The good news is that I really like this lace stuff and I definitely see more of it in my future. So wish me luck.
The sometimes mindboggling adventure that is lace is one very good reason you always have to have at least one pair of socks on the go. Here's mine...

This is the Elfine sock. A fun pattern it is really easy to memorize. Most of this was completed while driving around with my Dad this weekend. Only a few more rows until I turn the heel. What is even more exciting is that my Grandma saw it and wants the pattern. She is the typical acrylic knitting grandma so I think I'll do up a little kit for her with some nice merino sock yarn. Maybe she'll actually keep this pair for herself.
Last but not least I promised you a picture of Hourglass with me in it.

There you go. I really don't like seeing pictures of myself. This one isn't to bad but it does remind me that it is tome to ride the old exercise bike.
