Is it time to panic yet?

So I finished the mittens for my secret Santa.

dayna2

I decided on an embroidered flower for each cuff because the felt wasn't working out so well. Either way I really like them. The Lopi knits up so quickly and the colours are so rich. And now they are out of the way. I also made some marble magnets to include in the gift using origami paper. I haven't taken a picture of them, if your not sure what I'm talking about just google marble magnets and you can find loads of instructions.

Dad's hat is so close to being finished I just need to get my butt in gear. Hopefully I can get it done tonight, I really need to get started on Mum's mittens. It's crunch time.

I have in the last two days gotten lot's of baking done, despite realizing that the molasses in the cupboard had become on solid dark mass after starting to mix the ingredients for the chocolate ginger cookies I had been making. Into the fridge it went to wait for Mum to pick up some more on her way home from work. I now have three kinds of cookies in the freezer hiding until Christmas and I think I'll make one or two more over the weekend.

I think now is a good time to curl up with a cup of tea, some gift knitting and watch some Christmas specials on tv. The weather outside is frightful as the song goes with an expected 30cm (that's a foot for the Americans) of snow tonight. It's probably best to rest up for what could be an exciting drive into work tomorrow. Take care all.

T'is the Season...

I can't believe that it has been almost two weeks since I posted last. This time of year always goes by so fast.

It is official though, Christmas is almost here we cut our tree yesterday and this evening we decorated it. I also finished up my shopping today. I've still got a fair bit of knitting to do though. I haven't even begun my Mom's gift yet. I picked up a Fleece Artist Thrummed mitten kit last week since she has been talking about my thrummed mittens a lot lately (I think it's a hint) hopefully they won't take to long. I'm also working on yet another hat, this one is for my Dad using Brown Sheep Lambs Pride Worsted. This is a make it up as I go along hat with a mix of ribbing and cables, no pictures right now the yarn is a light sucking navy blue which is gorgeous in real life but a black hole to photograph. I did however get a picture of this...

This is a mitten I started today using Lopi, a Secret Santa gift for work. I'm loving how quick it is knitting up (especially good since I'm a little short on time). I'm thinking I'll add a little felted flower to each cuff once they're knit.

Amongst all of that I also started an Hourglass sweater for myself. You know the pattern I'm sure it's from Last Minute Knitted Gifts. I'm using Lamb's Pride Superwash in a colour called peacock a heathery navy blue. So the knitting plate is a little full right now but I'm pretty confident I'll get finished the things that need to be finished in time for Christmas. Here goes nothing!
